- Reach out to senior faculty
- Provide low-stakes leadership opportunities
- Form groups thoughtfully
- Expect conflict
As an example, I find it difficult to form training groups. You want peer leaders that can help with new systems, processes, software or hardware, and so many times it’s just easier to group by department. Departments have similar content areas with differing levels of skill and change-embracers. However, I think there’s much value in giving it more thought, allowing out-of-dept peer leadership opportunities and will keep these ideas in-mind in the future!
